Jeff Matz JM5 Signature Bass

Jeff Matz needs no introduction at this point. His work with High On Fire earned them a Grammy (finally the Academy got a “Best Metal Performance” winner right) and most musicians agree that he should be carved into the Mount Rushmore of modern bassists. Jeff actually commissioned the first ever Dunable bass (dubbed the Thunderclapper) so his vision has been the template for every model we’ve designed since. Thus, it should come as no surprise that we are announcing our 5th signature Bass in collaboration with him, The JM5.

The JM5 is a continued refinement of Jeff's imagination of the ideal bass, evolving the original JM design further with a non-offset body and traditional feeling size. We've brought back the German carve featured on the JM1 and JM3, this time on a one-piece black limba body, with a 34" scale wenge neck and ebony fingerboard. An oil finish provides a smooth feel, and lets the wood resonate freely. And with premium quality components such as Hipshot Ultralite tuners and A-Style bridge, loaded with a single Dunable D-Split pickup, this is a “bass player’s bass” that has been spewn from the earth, ready to conjure the Snakes Of The Divine.

“These features made for an instrument that is both visually stunning and sonically punchy. I immediately adopted it as my main bass for tour.”

- Jeff Matz
