Will Putney Signature Cyclops!

Will Putney’s work as a record producer is monumental on its own (seriously look it up, it’s actually insane), but take into account his involvement and key role in not one, but THREE contemporary heavy bands (Better Lovers, END, and Fit For An Autopsy), and it is clear that a sizeable percentage of the music you’ve mentally smashed your fist through a wall lately is a result of his technical and artistic mastery.

We have been working with Will on numerous custom guitars over the years, which led to the proposition of a signature model where we loaded some unique and innovative features into his preferred specfications on the Cyclops, the model he’s been playing live and keeping ready in his studio for years. 

Built upon the standard Cyclops specs, with a maple neck and fingerboard, flame maple top, and lightweight swamp ash body, the Will Putney signature adds standard upgrades such as Hipshot locking tuners and luminlay side dots.

The specs that take this from “a guitar” to “something else” required collaboration from two legendary companies in the guitar market - EMG Pickups, and Electro-Harmonix. At Will’s request, we added a single EMG 81 bridge pickup, as well as a built in Electro-Harmonix Pitch Fork pedal circuit, with full controls of the pedal, and a large aluminum push button to control the on/off function of the effect, in either latching or momentary mode. This allows for quick access to trigger whammy-style pitch effects with your picking hand, or simply turn a fixed pitch effect on or off without tap dancing on your pedalboard.

After taking some getting used to the physical act of utilizing the button while playing, we can say that this is an incredible idea that allows for all kinds of possibilities to expand the capability of the electric guitar, adding another palette of sound to incorporate into riffs, with all the harmony interval options going up or down (or both!).

Finally, we thought that if we’re going to develop all that, we might as well offer it in a few different options.
