Instrument Assembly Specialist
Dunable Guitars is looking for a self-starting, hardworking and experienced guitar/bass assembly technician for our custom shop instruments. One of our long-time assembly techs is leaving and we are in search of the perfect candidate to add to our team of skilled professionals.
We are not looking to train a beginner from the ground up, although we will train as to how we do things. At least two years of experience in a professional shop doing frets, installing electronics and hardware, slotting nuts, and final setup, with meticulous attention to detail. The ideal candidate has either worked in a similar role, or possibly in a repair shop, or QC'd import guitars.
You would have your own bench, and be one of three techs in our final assembly shop, with a weekly quota of guitars, fresh out of the paint shop, to assemble.
We are a small company of fewer than ten people, and we work hard, but we also have fun.
Our shop is located in Bell Gardens, just southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Responsibiiities:
NOTE: if you have more experience in one of these areas than others, we can work with that! Please feel free to note that when applying.
- Receive guitars from paint shop, pull parts according to build sheet. Mind parts stock levels, notify purchasing when reorders are necessary, well in advance.
- Dress frets according to our method, taking proper measures to not damage guitar's finish. Must be acutely knowledgable on proper fret dressing and polishing with no scratches.
- Shield cavities, pickguards, install electronics
- Install hardware safely to not damage guitar and its finish (again, we have procedures to follow which prevent these risks)
- Fit and install nut, properly cut slots as well as bridge slots if necessary
- final setup
Other occasional/minor responsibilities:
- receiving packages when they come in, keeping parts shelves neat and organized.
- updating build status in our computer system
- occasional warranty repairs as they come in
Skills, Experience and Education:
- Relevant industry experience (see above)
- Any other skills and experience in instrument manufacturing are definitely a plus - feel free to let us know!
Qualifications
- must have transportation and available 40 hours a week, occasionally more when necessary (very occasionally, don't worry)
Salary range depending on experience and qualifications: $40,000-$60,000/year, with medical and 401k options if desired.
